I was told that it is a great idea to have a travel journal when you do a big trip. Otherwise you are going to forget all the small things, and they are really the most important. So when I was studying for one year in Fukuoka I wrote as much as I could on this blog, and now when I’m back I try to update it with current information from time to time.

Hope you will enjoy this site!

I hope that I can find work within my field of studies so that I can fully take advantage of my skills in information and communication technologies. I have a big interest in foreign cultures and aspire to someday work in an international environment. Japan is a big interest of mine and I hope that I can continue my research on Japanese cellular phones. If you have any comments or questions, don’t hesitate to contact me!

The city

The city of Fukuoka (福岡), located in the south west of japan, is the city where I lived for a year. Why did I choose this city? Well it was all coincidence really. I went to Japan in the summer of 2006 and wanted to learn a little bit of the Japanese language, so i contacted a language school with home stay and they just happened to be in Fukuoka.

I really thought it was a great city so when i decided on which city to study in for my year in Japan, the choice was easy. You can read more about Fukuoka here on this page (or just click Fukuoka in the menu above). I will try to write as much as I can about the city there! The other cities on the map above in the title of this page are Osaka (大阪) and Tokyo(東京). You can see that Fukuoka is located pretty far to the south west and that it is really close to other Asian countries. It is actually closer from Fukuoka to Seoul than to Tokyo!

The school

I studied at the Kyushu University (Kyudai) in Fukuoka. Unfortunately,I don’t know so much about the university yet but I hope to write something here when I do! You can check out the official site here. I will participate in the Japan in Today’s World (JTW) program which offers Japanese language and culture courses. I think it will be an interesting year and hopefully I can also study some IT courses in Japanese to see how it’s done in Japan! In addition to the normal courses at the JTW program, I will perform some individual study project. I will write some more about them when I know something about them. Hopefully, they will be interesting.

This website

The reason why I created this website is that I want to preserve as much as I can from my time in Japan, and since I am studying Information Sciences I thought it would be appropriate to do my own website! I haven’t had much training with web-design before so this has been a useful experience.
